The students have been
learning all about the ‘Ee’ sound and the ‘er’ digraph so we thought this was a
great opportunity to introduce everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant, Elmer! Elmer has such
wonderful colours that we felt it only natural to follow up the books with some
bright artwork.
Here are some Elmer elephants...
and another one...
Students really
enjoyed drawing their own Elmer’s using bright pastels. Some students even made stuffed Elmer elephants and beautifully decorted them using powder
paint, patterned paper and sequins.
We paired this
extremely fun activity with some poetry writing. The students produced some
wonderful pieces and were very proud of their work.
What an enjoyable activity!
